CES CABINET DISSOLVES BODABODA ASSOCIATION

Today, the 10th of October 2022, the State Council of Ministers chaired by H.E Sarah Nene REDENTO held at the State Government Secretariat the 11th Extraordinary Council of Ministers Sitting.

The Council listened to briefing from Hon. Nagwa Guma Mursale, State Minister of Health on the Epidemiological Situation in Central Equatoria State where she disclosed that there is an outbreak of Measles in Northern Juba and other parts of Terekeka. She also briefed the Cabinet about the efforts of the Ministry in curtailing outbreak of Cholera.

The Council was further briefed about the incident which involved bodaboda riders and the leaders of so called National Bodaboda Association which resulted into injuries on three people and death of one person. The Ministry acted on the directive of H.E Emmanuel Adil Anthony, the Governor of Central Equatoria State to dissolve the infamous Bodaboda Association whose self proclaimed Leader is on the run after warrant of arrest was issued against him.

After thorough deliberations, the Cabinet resolved as follows:

  1. Approved the report of the State Minister of Health on the Epidemiological Situation in the State together with the Plan of Action to respond to the outbreak of the Measles. It also directed the State Ministry of Finance, Planning and Investment to immediately release funds to that effect.
  2. Endorsed the Order of the State Minister of Local Government and Law Enforcement dissolving the National Bodaboda Association Office in Central Equatoria State. It further directed that Bodaboda riders are to organise themselves and operate under the local government units.
