Juba, CES – South Sudan
H.E Emmanuel Adil Anthony, Governor of Central Equatoria State today presided over the first Ordinary Council of Ministers Sitting after returning from the US where he participated in the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and brilliantly snapped the opportunity to meet various diaspora communities of Central Equatoria State there. The sitting deliberated on three Memos presented to the Honorable Council by three various ministries – Animal Resources, Fisheries and Tourism; Roads and Bridges, and Agriculture, Environment and Forestry respectively.
Honorable Alex Lotiyu presented to the Council a Memo on the Cairo trip which was aimed at finding out facts about a contract signed by the previous State governments and a certain Bahgat Group regarding the construction of a modern Juba hotel. The Council resolved to terminate and annull the contract due to a lack of commitment on the company’s side and a motivational report that would persuade the current Central Equatoria government to reconsider its decision. The Council further resolved to retrieve the land on which the construction work was intended. The Council directed the State Ministry of Animal Resources, Fisheries and Tourism and that of Finance, Planning and Investment to implement the Resolution.
The Council also approved the Environment Policy Framework of the State Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Forestry as presented by the Hon. Minister Lilly Kapuki Jurkin.
The Council also deliberated on a Memo presented by Hon Mawa A Moses regarding the development and upgrading of State owned parks. This Memo was deferred to next week due to limited available time in today’s sitting.
